Disabled Tenant Receives Extension Through NTFHC Mediation

Feb 9, 2016

“Joe” is a person with a disability who was living in an apartment complex designated for people needing assistance. After residing there for several months, he was given a 10 day notice to vacate because of ongoing conflict with other tenants. Joe contacted the NTFHC, concerned because he felt he would not be able to find a new place to live in such a short amount of time.
NTFHC contacted his landlord, and was able to negotiate an extension for Joe. The apartment complex extended his move out date from 10 days to 30 days. Joe was then able to find a new apartment unit that would better accommodate his needs.
