NTFHC Assists Senior Women

Jul 7, 2015

Dallas resident "Cathy" contacted the North Texas Fair Housing Center for assistant with some much needed repairs to her home. Cathy and her sister are seniors, and share the home with their mother, who is 104. The women wanted to stay and continue living independently in their home, but getting around was becoming more difficult. Specifically, the women had a bathtub that was hard to get in and out of. NTFHC was able to remove the bathtub and install a walk in shower. A ramp has also been added to the front of the home, so the women can come and go more easily. "I have trouble balancing, and I've broken my hand. Not having to climb into the tub could save my life," said Cathy. "I never dreamed we could fix this, it's like day day and night, so much better."
